How LiveWELL Started
LiveWELL began in answer to the question, “Isn’t there a better way for people to heal and lead healthier lives?” As I worked as a nurse in a hospital I began to notice a pattern: despite our best medical efforts, patients were leaving the hospital not completely well. The next time I would see them, they had deteriorated further.
It seemed there must be a better way of helping people live healthier, happier lives.
My search for answers led me to observe athletes and people I knew who had quality lives. I watched and asked questions. I learned that people who exercised and ate well were able to enjoy their families and favorite activities.
A lot of my stress management observations came from watching my oncology patients. I noted that if they had a positive attitude, healthy social connections, and peace they still had quality of life despite their terminal illness. In contrast, some of my patients with more minor ailments who did not have the above qualities were getting weaker and having poorer quality lives.
I realized that what conventional medicine offered through medications, surgery and radiation was not enough.
I learned that physical exercise and movement were essential factors in vitality, but how could I help people improve their willingness and ability to move and exercise? I focused on relieving their pain, and teaching them proper ways to stretch and strengthen.
How could I give them support so they had the energy they needed? I could help them find foods and nutritional aids so their bodies and minds had adequate fuel to function.
So, LiveWELL was born. Whenever someone comes to LiveWELL asking for help with stress, pain, or healthy lifestyle issues, they receive authentic presence, and the benefit of on-going experience. I continue to study ancient, current, and breakthrough approaches from the broad wealth of Eastern and Western healthcare philosophies.
